engage enemy craft within an atmospheric situation. The Corporate Sector Authority designed this unique fighter to fit the
various mission profiles of the Picket Fleet's mandate. Similar to the TIE series, it lacks a hyperdrive unit, but it has
powerful engines and effective weapons. The lack of hyperdrive on these fighters forces the CSA to ferry these fighters to

Description: The BearCat design was M&G’s attempt to win an Imperial contract for a deep-space patrol and attack fighter which was to be used in a limited scouting role as well.
Although the design failed to win the contract, the fighter is still being put into limited production with the hopes of attracting the attention of exploratory firms, security firms, and large companies which wish to patrol their own shipping routes without great need for Imperial assistance. The future of the BearCat is very uncertain at this time, and could easily wind up a company failure in the near future if it doesn't attract any market attention.
Amenities
The BearCat was designed to accommodate a crew of four over a duration of up to thirty days. The fighter has a cockpit mounted in the bow, with a small crew bunk below and aft of the cockpit. The ship is operated by a pilot and gunner, while the two other crewmen sleep in the small bunk station. By alternating the active crewmen every six to eight hours, the ship can maintain a fresh and alert crew during its extensive patrol. Still, the craft is small, lacks any type of recreational facilities, and the bunk room is rather cramped. Critics believe that a crew on a long cruise could easily contract a very bad case of cabin fever due to the lack of any amenities aboard the craft. This is one of the reasons why the Imperials did not accept this design for production.
Capabilities
The BearCat has an average sublight speed for current starfighters, but maneuvers poorly. Its armor is decent for the fighter's size, and has adequate ray shielding for extended combat periods. The BearCat's hyperdrive computer has an unlimited number of jump vectors/coordinates, but the actual hyperdrive is slower than most hyperspace capable starfighters.
The craft's main offensive armament is a trio of proton torpedo launchers, which carry 12 torpedoes with slightly greater range than the standard, and are complemented by a pair of heavy ion cannons. The armament is capped off with a pair of laser cannons mounted on a small dorsal turret just aft of the cockpit.
Crew
In the cockpit, the gunner is also the sensor and communications systems operator, and is in control of the sensor buoys the fighter carries. The pilot is the craft's commander, and is responsible for the Ion cannons and Proton Torpedo Launchers, as well as the astrogation duties during the patrol. The crew shift changes are always the same, with no interchanging of positions. The patrol commander (senior pilot) is assigned before patrol, and is responsible for the entire mission, from planning the route and layover times, to assigning shift changes and accounting for supplies.
Competition
M&G lost the competition for the Imperial contract to Nova-Star's new FireStorm attack boat design. The differences between the craft are great: the Firestorm is rated as a Capital class starship, although it is relatively under armed and armored to compete with anything larger than a Corvette on its own; the Firestorm has a longer patrol range and duration than the BearCat, with a larger crew and better onboard facilities; the Firestorm has a better sensor package, but doesn't carry any sensor buoys; finally, the Firestorm has a faster hyperspace drive and a backup, which the BearCat lacks. In addition, the Firestorm was offered at a very low price for a craft of its size and classification, which made it even more attractive to the Empire. In the end, the BearCat lost due to the designers' attempts to pack a capital ship's role into a starfighter hull.

Description: A Sensor buoy is an extremely helpful and important item of equipment for starships which operate in deep space. These tiny objects can be launched from the mother ship and then transmit every piece of information caught by its sensors back to the mother ship. Transmissions can be received by the mother ship up to a distance of more than 100 light years, depending on the size and quality of the buoy. Sensor buoys are also used to mark the path through space of the mother ship to help following ships in locating and assisting the sensor ship. Due to the stealth technology on the buoys, they are barely detectable by enemy vessels.
A well-known example of sensor buoys is a co-production by Myskeler & Gorlan Star Drives and Hiad Engineering. It is a very reliable buoy of high quality. It looks like turned round truncated cone, bristling with antennas and other sensor technology. Its energy cells keep the buoy active for about ten years, while small maneuvering jets guarantee the bouy will remain in the optimal position. In the case that enemy forces should somehow discover the buoy despite its sensor stealth and try to steal the collected information of the buoy, a self-destruct charge is activated to prevent the information of falling into the wrong hands.

Description: The Spear Starfighter is a small production run fighter produced by Frostworks, and
was developed as a contemporary of the X-Wing fighter, but the restrictions introduced by the Empire killed the sales of the
vessel and led Frostworks to abandon production. The Spear is a fairly fast vessel, although is somewhat under armed for many
pilots, but those who own this fighter consider it an excellent design and in many ways it is at least the equal of the X-Wing.
Because Frostworks were forced to abandon the design, they made a short term profit by dumping the remaining stock onto the black
market with these being picked up by criminal organizations and pirates where they are considered among the best fighters
available to these groups.

Description: The Splinter was supposed to be Koensayr's promising follow up to their ever
successful line of Y-wing fighter/bombers. Designed as a quick and maneuverable point defense fighter for capital ships or space
stations, the Splinter more than pulled its weight in combat.
In space, the Splinter could out perform many of the other starfighters of its time and bring a surprising amount of firepower
to bear. Boasting a pair of slit-shaped Koensayr 3KL maneuvering jets (one on each side), the fighter could easily pull off
quick and tight turns or impressive rolls.
The two fins jutting from the fore section of the fuselage contain the power units for the light ion cannons as well as the
craft's sensor arrays. Damage to just one of these fins often times overloaded the systems in the adjacent fin as well,
rendering the sensors and ion cannons useless.
The Splinter's basic design was later ripped off just prior to the onset of the Clone Wars and used in a much more heavily
armed fighter with an additional fusial ion drive on a ventral mounted fin. The design would also later inspire many innovations
featured within the Alliance's A-wing interceptor.
Republic Splinters were often stored on board of light carriers or modified bulk transports to aid in convoy protection. The
Z-95s would dominate the rest of the Fleet due to their versatility. Introduced one year prior to the Battle of Naboo.

Description: The Splinter interceptor (BTH-A3) was a follow up design based upon the Splinter
point defense fighter (BTH-A2). Meant to be a more affordable and nimble craft, the Splinter interceptor would see much better
sales than its older sister.
Small and lightweight, the Splinter interceptor would fill the same role for select Republic units that the TIE interceptor and
Alliance A-wing would later fill during the Rebellion. In fact, the design of the Alliance A-wing was greatly influenced by the
Splinter.
The A3 variant lacked the forward fins and ion cannons that the A2 variant boasted. This made the vessel much lighter, but
required that a smaller sensor array be mounted in the main fuselage itself, just behind the cockpit. Aside from the lack of
ion cannons and the weaker sensor array, the A3 interceptor is more or less identical to the A2 point defense fighter in every
aspect. Introduced one year after the Battle of Naboo.

Description: The Toth Interceptor is a small production run Starfighter that although not
outstanding in combat, was fitted with a pair of laser cannons which equalled the range of capital ship weaponary. This led to
high sales for the fighter as an interceptor, even though it did not have a high enough speed to fulfil this role in normal
circumstances. It was released at a similar time to the Naboo N-1 Starfighter, and with the fantastic press the N-1 received
because of the Battle of Naboo, the Toths sales were shrunk to near zero, leading to the discontinuation of the line and the
dumping of those already built onto the market.

Description: The Bulldog is a heavy assault starfighter design to help achieve space superiority
against larger numbers of enemy fighters, designed to be rugged and be capable of surviving direct energy weapon hits on its
hull. It is equipped with Proton Torpedoes and Heavy Laser Cannons capable of causing massive levels of damage to enemy
starfighters, however the fighters poor maneuverability and the low storage capacity of its hyperspace navigation system has
led it to be somewhat less capable than its designers intended. Even with these taken into account the Bulldog is a powerful
starfighter with a punch equaling some bombers and a vessel which has proven itself in service with a number of independent
worlds since it was released 10 years after the Clone Wars ended.

Description: A heavy assault starfighter built by a pacifist world may seem to be somewhat of
an oddity, but the Sun Gryphon by Starypan/SunHui Spaceworks of Alderaan is a tough and combat ready starfighter which matches
up well when compared to other fighters of the Clone War era. The fighter is a standard design for that time, but has an
extending pod containing a rack of concussion missiles which allow the fighter to hit harder than any other fighter of its time,
with the pod capable of retracting near flush to the hull to allow the vessel to land. Production of this fighter was cut short
by the Empire's destruction of Alderaan, but it had been in production for years by that time and had become established as a
powerful and hard hitting fighter/bomber in use by many militia forces across the galaxy.

Description: An older design built by the Mandalorians, the Spire class transport was originally
manufactured for the Mandalorian Military where it served as a troop transport and light cargo carrying vessel. However soon
after it was retired it began to be sold on the open market where it found itself a popular and much desired transport ship.
Fast for its time, and pretty tough, this vessel is still a desirable second hand purchase because of the large capacity for
passengers and low crew requirement for an ancient vessel although it is now considered to be a difficult vessel to pilot.
However it has a small amount of cargo space for such a large vessel, making conversions a popular choice with the large older
engines being removed to free up space for newer, smaller replacements.

*: The Wings of the Switchblade are edged with a hyperdense material, which is sharpened so that it can cut objects on a particle level. This means that the Switchblade can actually damage targets by colliding with them. However, if it should fail to achieve damage, failing to cut through the target, then the collision will probably destroy the fighter.
Description: The Switchblade was an innovative idea, designed with sharpened wings so that it could perform slashing attacks against targets, severing capital ship sensors, etc. However this left the fighter unable to use shields, and an obvious target as it charged in against an enemy vessel. The system was also not perfect, and although the vessel could often cut its way straight through a target, all too often it would simply smash itself across the enemy's hull. However the idea was well advertised and became popular for a short time, until the holo's of the spectacular deaths of desperate and suicidal pilots began to propagate across the galaxy. The Switchblade's production was then made illegal due to safety concerns, and interest in the design began to drop off, the vessel is now just another abandoned design, which sees moderate use across the galaxy, especially with the stupid or brave pilot who thinks they can successfully pull off manuevers with the fighters Razor wings.

Description: The TriLex Flat-Fish is a heavy starfighter armed with both Ion and Laser Cannons, making it a useful fighter for stopping vessels without destroying them. While a contemparary of the Y-Wing, the Flatfish has a few advantages over that fighter, while the Y-Wings bomber status has advantages over the Flatfish. However the Flatfish's sleek profiles, and the fact it doesn't need an astromech droid to operate has made it a popular vessel, with a variety of customised models on the market. The Ion Cannons can be easily removed and replaced with proton torpedo launchers, and many owners prefer to upgrade the weak laser cannons with something with a little more kick. Chromed Flatfish were popular during the final days of the Old Republic as diplomatic escorts, and royal fighter squadrons, however by the time of the Empire, these flashy paint jobs had been replaced by more servicable and practical ones.

Description: The Parvati Starfighter is a contemporary of the X-Wing and Y-Wing Classes of
Starfighters which were released at the beginning of the Galactic Civil War. With powerful laser cannons and better performance
than earlier fighters, the Parvati looked set to see great success however two problems hampered this and led to the fighter
suffering fairly poor sales and being removed from the market rapidly. Firstly the X-Wing upped the stakes for starfighters of
its era, showing a quantum leap in combat effectiveness and performance it caused a large number of fighters to look slow,
cumbersome and fragile. Secondly the increased weapon restrictions imposed by the Empire caused sales of all military fighters
to drop, causing a large number of corporations to have difficulty recovering the finance they invested in new starfighter
designs. These factors led the Parvati to fail despite the fact that it is only slightly less effective than the X-Wing
especially considering the fact that the X-Wing was not available on the open market and shouldn't have had any major impact
on sales due to the nationalization of Incom.

Description: The agile V-wing starfighters served in the Republic Starfleet in large numbers
during the Clone Wars and likely continued to serve in the Imperial Starfleet in the years following this massive conflict.
They bore a passing resemblance to the TIE fighters of the later Imperial era, with their vertical heat radiator wing-panels
making the fighter look like an 'H' when viewed from the front.
V-wings carried a single pilot and a Q7-series astromech droid. Like most of the fighters mass-produced for Republic loyalist
forces, V-wings were too small for a hyperdrive, relying instead on carriers like the Venator-Class Star Destroyer. Its armament
consisted of twin laser cannons capable of swiveling to engage targets off- axis. The V-wing's twin ion drive thrusters gave it
a maximum acceleration of 4,800g.
Three V-wings escorted Emperor Palpatine´s Theta-class Shuttle as he returned to Coruscant from Mustafar at the end of the Clone
Wars.

Description: With the outbreak of the Clone Wars, the Jedi saw themselves pressed into the
forefront of military activity, serving as Generals in the campaign against the Separatists. The demands of combat saw
advancements in the Jedi starfighter arsenal, resulting in modifications and a new generation of fighter craft.
Though the wedge-shaped starfighter design was still in use by war's end, a newer model had earned the spotlight for its use
by renowned Jedi heroes, Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi.
This new model was much more compact, cutting away a large portion of the forward spaceframe to have a forked front, bracketing
a bulbous cockpit pod. Lining the inner edges of the ship's "tines" were powerful long-barreled laser cannons. The ship also
had secondary cannons recessed on the outer edge of each tine. A full-size astromech rested within a spring-loaded socket on
the port wing, and the craft's wingtips could fold open, revealing hexagonal panels when the ship entered combat mode. The
hexagonal wings and the spoke-windowed cockpit were strong indicators of future starfighter designs to be adopted by the
galactic government.
This new model also lacked a hyperdrive, so it too had to rely upon a hyperspace transport ring to achieve superluminal
velocities. During the war, bigger more robust rings were used, with multiple lightspeed engines increasing their speed and
range.
Ace Jedi pilots like Anakin Skywalker and Saesee Tiin pushed the Delta-7 to its limits. Skywalker constantly tinkered with his
starfighter, modifying its systems to optimize performance. Based on his innovations, Kuat Systems Engineering revisited the
starfighter design and developed a bold and radical follow-up to the Delta-7 with its Eta-2 Actis interceptor. Anakin Skywalker
was the first to pilot this new model, though other Jedi soon followed in his path, including Tiin, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Mace
Windu.
Only a Jedi pilot would be brave enough to fly an Eta-2 into combat. That's not to disparage its capabilities; rather, it is a
very advanced high-performance craft that devotes most of its system resources to pure speed and power. It does so at the
expense of heavy flight instruments, sensors and shields. A Jedi Knight's attunement to the Force more than compensates for
these compromises.
In compressing - yet increasing - the performance of the Delta-7 into a frame no bigger than an airspeeder, Kuat engineers faced
many challenges. Key among them was overheating. A sophisticated system of pumps, heat sinks and extendable radiator wing panels
help draw heat away from the Eta-2's miniature reactor.

Description: When the Separatists attacked Coruscant in the twilight of the Clone Wars, they
employed as many different and cutting edge combat starship designs as they could to better the chances of victory in their
most bold and daring strike. Swarming from the hangar bays of Confederacy battleships were tri-fighters, automated starfighters
equipped with groupings of four blaster cannons. The bracing arms surrounded a rotating gyroscopic ball that housed the droid's
brain.
The fully automated tri-fighter is bigger and less maneuverable than the slim vulture fighters, but nonetheless posed a threat,
particularly to the slower ARC-170 fighters.
The tri-fighter derives its name from the triple support arms that steady its primary cannons, and it derives these arms from
the skull shape of a predator native to the world of its designers. The Colicoid Creation Nest, the same amoral cannibalistic
insectoid designers responsible for the deadly droidekas, designed the tri-fighter. Also contributing to its name is the array
of triple independent thrusters that afford it its agility.
The tri-fighter brain is more sophisticated than that of the vulture droid starfighter. Its robust power planet and advanced
communication transceiver give a tri-fighter impressive operating range for a non-hyperdrive equipped automated starfighter.

Description: The Corellian designed Jumpmaster 5000 is a older design used during the late
years of the Old Republic, built for deep space patrols and exploration the Jumpmaster has now become a much loved vessel for
Bounty Hunters. With plenty of room for modification, but still plenty of space for prisoners, the Jumpmaster can become a
fine combat vessel; however its tough hull and good hyperdrive make it a fairly well designed vessel for moving small amounts
of valuable cargo. The Jumpmaster series has been retired for a long time, but they are often seen in use patched and modified
beyond their original specifications. One of the first modifications made is replacement of the unreliable and poor built
hyperdrive, which is notorious for breaking down and malfunctioning, in fact many of the owners of Jumpmaster 5000's have
removed the main hyperdrive completely, and rely on the backup system completely. The crafts small size means that if the
entire cargo hold is taken up with weapons and engine modifications the crew space becomes limited, but most owners who take
this path think that this trade off is well worth it.
