* The Strength of the Laboi varies with its size. It is 1D+1 for Laboi two meters or less in length, then increases by 1D for
every 2 full meters of length, up to 5D+1 for the largest Laboi (10 meters). Every two meters of length costs 1D.
Description:
The Laboi are one of the few sentient species in the Galaxy to have no limbs. They are fur-covered serpentine mammals, two to
ten meters long. Since they have no limbs, their simple technology depends on grasping simple tools with their tails or mouths.
Some female Laboi have natural telekinetic abilities which allow them to manipulate objects with a mass of up to five kilograms.
The Laboi are from the planet Laboi II, a world that took 4040 hours to rotate on its axis. This long day resulted in blistering
heat at noon, and extreme cold at night. Laboi are well-adapted to both heat extremes. Their fur also changes color, turning
white in the day to reflect heat, and turning bright primary colors at night as camouflage against Laboi II's mineral forests.
Laboi are entirely carnivorous, as their sharp teeth reveal. Their preferred prey is the ovolyan, a bantha-sized reptilian
quarduped. Ovolyans also ate Laboi when they could, making the hunts quite dangerous. Laboi society revolves around the hunt,
with the largest Laboi male as the pack leader. Since Laboi continue growing throughout life, these are also the oldest and most
experienced hunters.
Despite their primitive lifestyle, the Laboi are very cultured, with many advanced philosophers and theorists. One of their most
impressive art forms is the crystal gardens which they tend at night, using telekinesis to achieve subtle and intricate effects.
Some Laboi are found off Laboi II, where they found intellectual employment as scholars and executives. During the Imperial era,
some became crimelords, where they competed with the Hutts. They did not enjoy a particularly good reputation with non-Laboi, who
often worried that the Laboi saw them as food. This impression was sometimes correct, since Laboi were aggressive predators by
nature, and some held non-Laboi life to have little or no value.
Special Abilities:
Fur: Thier fur protects Laboi from extremes of both cold and heat.
Teeth: The teeth of the Laboi do damage eaul to Strength+2D.
Telekinesis: Certain Laboi females can use their minds to move items weighing less than
5kg. They are limited to manipulating one item at a time (and cannot do anything else while doing this) and that item must stay
within 10 meters of the Laboi. To compensate, Laboi females cannot grow more than eight meters in length.
Story Factors:
Reputation: Most members of the galaxy assume that if they encounter a Laboi, they will be
eaten, so they do one of two things: run or attack.
