"They're killers you hear? Murderers. Take it from me, Wormhead. You're an outsider. Keep your nose in your own business."
-Ism Oolos records an encounter with a Drovian in his journal
Drovians are a sentient species indigenous to the Outer Rim world of Nim Drovis. Divided into two main tribes, they have been
members of the galactic community for many thousands of years. A civil war divided the two tribes for centuries, of such scale
that virtually all Drovians are affected by it. This came to a head during the Death Seed crisis when the Gopso'o tribe almost
gained control of the planet, while financed by the Loronar Corporation.
Most Drovians remain on their homeworld, but those found offworld are frequently involved in criminal endeavors, such as swoop
gangs, gladiatorial contests, or working for underworld kingpins such as Jabba the Hutt. These occupations took advantage of
their strength and size.
Biology and Appearance:
A Drovian member of Black Vulkars "Not a particle of difference between them, you understand, except that they have been at
blood feud for, literally, centuries."
-Ism Oolos
The Drovian species is bipedal in form, with corpulent bottom-heavy physiques. They average twice the weight of a standard
human, and are comparatively tall, averaging around 2 meters. Their stocky bodies are supported by two thick, trunk-like legs;
a form of extremely strong tentacle. Each limb ends in three sharp, articulated pincers.
Drovians breath through membrane-lined breathing tubes on their necks, often covered in mucous. Through these, most Drovians
would suck fist-sized plugs of raw zwil. Zwil is a yellow cake flavoring agent from Algarine cuisine, smelling of cinnamon and
vanilla, that had a mild narcotic effect on Drovians. It was introduced by offworld traders, and became so prevalent that
virtually all Drovians are addicted to the substance. This led them to develop a more potent variation known as Drovian zwil
which has a narcotic affect on other species too, such as the Shistavanen. It soon became available on major worlds such as
Coruscant.
Drovians have numerous sensory devices in their bodies, giving them exceptional aim and depth perception. Drovian skin
pigmentation ranges from gray to orange. Tufts of dark hair grow from their heads, which is worn according on cultural
affiliation—braided and long for Gopso'o tribesmen, compared with the short cut for the dominant Drovian tribesmen.
History:
A primitive Gopso'o tribesman, with braided hair. "I'm killin' those moldspawns because they killed my family, see? Because
they disemboweled Garnu Hral Eschen, because they tore the flesh off the bones of the children of Ethras, because they…"
-Sergeant Knezex Hral Piksoar
Drovian society has developed into a pastoral network of tribes by the time the Galactic Republic first made contact with them,
with many tribes operating slugranches. The two major tribes are the Drovians—from whom the species name was derived—and the
Gopso'o. Though only cultural differences separated the two tribes, war raged between them for hundreds of years. Though the
exact origins of the war have been lost over time, some believe it started as a dispute over the grammatical construction of the
Drovian word for "truth": one side believed it was singular, and the other plural.
As the first to make interstellar contact, the Drovian tribe readily accepted Republic technology, forming a high-tech
civilization and gaining dominance over their rival tribe. The establishment of the freeport Bagsho by Alderaanian colonists,
created ongoing opportunities to gain new technologies and to interact with the Republic for the Drovians, who subsequently
adopted Galactic Basic Standard as their primary language, another sign of their embrace of the Republic, while the more
primitive Gopso'o retained Drovian as their language.
Living on Nim Drovis, a hot, humid planet, prone to monsoons and flooding, the Drovians not directly involved in the wars,
actively worked to exterminate the many forms of native mold. Carnivorous and mobile, these molds grow rampantly across the
planet, their acid capable of eating through flesh. Both acid and flame-throwers are used to attack the plant-based pestilence,
but, occasionally, Gopso'o use the molds to torture and kill captives. This burnt the bodies so badly that the corpses were
unrecognizable.
Despite joining the Galactic Republic, the tribal war continues. Such is the animosity that many Drovians believe the Gopso'o took
pleasure in killing innocent family members of their enemies. During skirmishes, warriors often invoke the names of their murdered
ancestors, shouted some of the Twenty-Five Personifications of Virtue, such as Truth and Beauty, or yelled some other choice oath
such as "chunder".
Drovians in the Galaxy:
Silus, a Force-sensitive gladiator, "It seems that you're standing in the way of my destiny."
-Silus threatening Darth Maul
Since contact with the Galactic Republic, Drovians spread out into the galaxy, able to be found on a number of Outer Rim planets
such as Tatooine, and Taris. The Drovians on Taris were part of the Black Vulkars, a notorious swoop gang in the Lower City. In
3,964 BBY, they managed to apprehend the rogue Padawan Zayne Carrick and his Snivvian partner, Marn Hierogryph, both marked with
large bounties for the murder of a number of Jedi Padawans. However, the pair successfully escaped from the gang-members, tricking
them into believing a stash of spice was nearby.
Through their long war against the Gopso'o, many Drovians developed into tough fighters. A fine example of this, was the
Force-sensitive Silus. Fighting in a gladiatorial competition, he combined his natural fighting abilities with Force tricks,
killing numerous competitors such as the Aleena Tabor. When his dark Force abilities threatened to alert the Jedi Order, the
Sith Lord Darth Sidious dispatched his apprentice Darth Maul to deal to him. In order to test Maul, the Drovian was offered the
opportunity to displace Darth Maul if he could kill him. However, he proved to be no match for the Sith's abilities.
Another well-known Drovian was Kurjj, who worked as a mercenary for Jabba the Hutt during the last years of the Old Republic. It
was during this period that Boba Fett first offered his services to the crimelord. When Fett stood his ground against Jabba,
Kurjj tried to kill Fett using a litch-knife. Warned by Kurjj's hot breath on his neck, the young bounty hunter disarmed him,
dropping him to the ground. After his defeat, Jabba condemned Kurjj to death by his pit beasts. Jabba was known to employ a
number of other Drovians as guards and servants, although none dared challenge Fett after Kurjj's death.
Notable Drovian soldiers included Ethras, whose children had their flesh torn off by Gopso'o, and Garnu Hral Eschen, who was
disemboweled during the wars with the Gopso'o.
Drovian Zwil Spice
Planet of Origin: Nim Drovis
This potent, highly-addictive form of the cake-flavoring known as zwil, was created by the Drovian race. The Drovians were one
of the few races which experienced addictive reactions to the "harmless" zwil produced on Algara II, and developed this form to
enhance their narcotic experiences.
Planetary Data:
System: Drovian
Sector: Meridian
Suns: 1
Planets: 2
Moons: 0
Asteroid Fields: 0
Space Stations: 0
Controlled By: Biotech
Population: 445,493 inhabitants
Description:
A lonely system on the boarder between the Inner Rim and Expansion Region, Drovian has been mostly overlooked for centuries. Some
have suggested this might be due to the presence of the systems neighboring system, Chorios, which supports a unique five primary
system. However it is much more likely that the system is simply of not much use to anyone but its native inhabitants. The systems
primary, a yellow star of average proportions, seems to put out quite a bit of gravitational flux. However all scientific studies
seem to indicate that the star will remain stable for another 4 million years or so.
The single humanoid habitable planet in the system, Nim Drovis, is lightly populated by two indigenous the races, the Drovian and
the Gopso’o. Like countless others in the galaxy, these two races have been involved in generations of long war. The planet itself
is mostly composed of large stretches of predator-ridden jungle, interspaced with even longer areas of desolate rock. With
slightly higher than average gravity and such a hot atmosphere, most people have chosen to leave the planet on its own. It is
rumored that the Old Republic had plans to use the planets vicious and deadly jungles as a home for a penal colony, however
construction was halted due to the outbreak of the Clone Wars.
The only other celestial body in the system, Nim Drovit, is a fairly standard J-type gaseous planet in almost all respects. Due
to it’s immense gravity field it shields Nim Drovis from most of the numerous amounts of stellar debris that is present in the
system. Analysis indicates that much of the debris may have been from a small third planet that existed on the fringes of the
system, however it seems to have befallen a major calamity in the past 50,000 years, though scientist have yet to explain how
this might have happened. Nim Drovit also supports a healthy population of high density beings know as the Nim’vians. They are a
friendly species just starting to take their first steps into the galaxy at large.
Nim Drovis

System: Drovian
Sector: Meridian
Planet type: hot/breathable
Controlled By: Biotech
Total population: 445,493 Drovis and Gopso'o
Description:
Nim Drovis is located in the Drovian system in the Meridian sector. This planet rotates on it axis at a very slow rate, making the
days here last a very long time. The planet has a small protective atmosphere, which is why its surface is so hot . The planet is
mostly covered with jungles and forests for as far as the eyes can see.
There are two races native to this planet the Drovian and the Gopso'o. The Drovians breathe through a mucous membrane in their
necks. There limbs are a combination of articulated pincers and tentacles, which stem from a bottom-heavy torso. They had
developed into a loosely-connected group of tribes when they were first contacted by the Old Republic. Since that time, they have
evolved into a semi-sophisticated race which had acquired the habit of sucking raw zwil through their membranes. The Drovians
have been at war with the Gopso'o for as long as anyone can remember. It is rumored that the civil strife began over whether the
root word for "truth" was singular or plural. Both races have the same native language , and have adopted basic and their primary
language. The native language is known as Drovian, people can guess that it was the Drovians who first began to speak on this
planet.
Nowadays just like almost always this planet is viewed as back water world with little or nothing to offer in the way of raw
materials or strategic value.
Nim Drovit

System: Drovian
Sector: Meridian
Planet type: gas giant
Controlled By: Biotech
Description:
Nim Drovit, one of only three planetary bodies in the Drovian System of the Meridian Sector, may appear at first glance to be an
average, uninhabitable gas giant. However there is more to it than meets the eye. Beneath the rolling clouds of Hydrogen and
other more volatile gasses, Nim Drovit actually supports a healthy population of high-density beings. The Drovian and the Gopso’o
of the nearby planet Nim Drovis refer to the inhabitants of Nim Drovit as the Nim’vians, and have close trading ties with them.
Like most high gravity gas giants, Nim Drovit is an excellent resource for Corusca gems, and other valuable high-density metals
used in advanced starship construction.
More of a liquid compared to other creatures of the universe, the average Nim’vian is about 1.3 to 1.6 meters in height and has
a humanoid shape. Their “skin” is actually a thin, partially transparent membrane that holds their body together, as they lack
the usually bone and cartilage structure most species have. The Nim’vians keep mostly to themselves and have little contact with
the outside galaxy. This enforced separation is not because they are xenophobic, but due to the fact that without the immense
gravity of their planet to hold their body structure together, they would literally disintegrate. The Nim’vians do have a healthy
curiosity about the universe and have recently made efforts to construct specialized vessels that would allow them to leave their
planet without fear of death. The few vessels that have been constructed so far act mostly as trading vessels, bringing the
riches of Nim Drovit to the galaxy.
